The Essence of
Bhagvat Gita
Preamble:
Bhagvat Gita is
a song celestial in Vedic Literature and was rendered in
hymns form by Lord Krishna to warrior Arjuna just before the
start of war with his cousins. It was a mini world war of
those times. This is part of the greatest Hindu epic "
Mahabharat". This epic was written by Sage Veda Vyasa.
Arjuna was afraid to go to war against his cousins, great
grandfather and his Guru and kill them. He was almost giving
up and Lord Krishna gave him the purpose of life in the form
of this discourse. This is presumed to have happened about
5500 years ago. We are pleased to give the gist below and
the same is applicable even today. This was rendered in
Sanskrit language and we have tried our best to convey the
nearest meaning.
The Essence of human
life:
- Whatever happened so far
has happened for the good
- Whatever is happening is
also for the good
- What is going to happen
will also be for the good
- What is yours that you
have lost ?
- Why are you crying ?
- What did you bring that
you have lost ?
- What did you create that
has been destroyed ?
- What you took has been
given by me
- What you gave is also
given by me
- What is yours will
become somebody else's tomorrow and someone else's day
after tomorrow
This is the
essence of human life and the purpose of my creation - Lord
Krishna
